Past the hills of Mill Valley, the plains of Corte Madera straddle Highway 101 and stretch east to the Bay. Once a heavily wooded area, Corte Madera provided the wood for the construction of the Presidio, thus the literal translation of its name from Spanish: “cut wood.”
Well-known throughout the county as a shopper’s mecca, this community enjoys superb amenities.
The town is bolstered by sales tax proceeds on retail goods from the Corte Madera Town Center, the Village of Corte Madera, and clusters of boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants.
