APIWC was nominated by Kevin McLeod and Gary Johnson who have each attended several APIWC events - the most recent of which honored Mayor Ed Lee at the design center with over 500 guests.
Founded in 1987, the organization serves the needs of the Asian community in San Francisco with regard to all issues related to the HIV/Aids crisis. It now employs a staff that can speak 15 different languages to accommodate the diverse cultures it serves. The outreach program serves approximately 9,000 individuals, and the money also goes to training health counselors along with providing healthcare services.
